The Teaching and Learning Group at Northeastern University seeks a Program Manager to provide day-to-day and, more importantly, long-term planning and support for a diverse range of programs, research activities and services related to teaching and learning in higher education. The Teaching and Learning Group is comprised of the Center for Advancing Teaching and Learning Through Research (CATLR), the Student Assessed Integrated Learning (SAIL) Initiative, and the Research Institute for Experiential Learning Science (RIELS). Reporting to the Assistant Director for Operations and working together with an Administrative Assistant, the Program Manager will support all of these units to advance interdisciplinary initiatives and collaborations across the University. The Program Manager will be tasked with:
- Event/Program Organization and Coordination
o Serving as lead event planner for larger-scale Teaching and Learning Group events, such as the annual Conference for Advancing Evidence-Based Teaching.
o Managing projects by tracking progress and deadlines for ongoing initiatives through the maintenance of task lists, timelines and other project management tools.
o Managing the scheduling, planning, setup and other logistics for day-to-day recurring events.
o Supporting the logging and scheduling of consultation and training requests.
o Supporting other assessment and research projects, as needed.
- Outreach and Information Management
o Assisting in marketing efforts by drafting key correspondences, identifying additional outreach outlets, maintaining mailing lists, and managing recurring email campaigns.
o Updating and maintaining Teaching and Learning Group websites, in addition to updating and expanding our social media presence.
o Providing CRM/database management, including data entry, monitoring event registration systems, and conducting analyses.
o Supporting scheduling and calendar coordination for Teaching and Learning leadership and events.
o Providing excellent customer service to educators, learners and other constituents by phone, email and in-person and directing inquiries to appropriate resources.
- Budget support
o Managing the procurement of goods and services, in addition to supporting budget reconciliations efforts.
- Student employees
o Leading the recruiting, hiring, and supervision of student employees, as needed.
BA/BS required, with a preference for an MA/MS
3 or more years working in an office/team environment, preferably in an educational setting
Strong time management and organizational skills
Strong project management skills, including managing short- and long-term projects simultaneously; experience with project management methodologies are a plus
Ability to be a flexible team player
Ability to solve problems creatively and efficiently
Able to think strategically, and take initiative
Open to learning new things
Ability to manage confidential information and use discretion and judgment appropriately
Comfort with balancing and devoting energy to both high-level intellectual work and the day-to-day administrative tasks essential to the smooth operation of an office
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and intrapersonal skills, and comfort communicating with a variety of audiences
Strong writing ability (samples of writing requested)
Exposure to budget and procurement processes preferred
Demonstrated experience using social media and websites for marketing and communications, with a preference for a familiarity with WordPress
Experience working with CRMs or similar databases strongly preferred
Comfort using technology for professional needs (Minimum: Microsoft Office (including Outlook calendar), Google Drive; Preferred: Adobe Creative Suites, Qualtrics, Slack)
