The George Mason University Global Education Office (GEO) is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic individual to serve as an Events and Communication Content Specialist. An important part of GEO's marketing team, this individual will have the responsibility of generating interest in study abroad through compelling story telling and coordination of events to support study abroad activities.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to produce accurate and highly engaging content for a variety of digital and print media. The ideal candidate is an event planner and copywriter with attention to detail, working with other GEO colleagues on creating content and coordinating events. This position is part of a team of new and experienced professionals who work collaboratively to increase enrollment in GEO programs; and is a good fit for driven, critical thinking, and energetic professionals or recent graduates interested in the field of international education.

Communication Content Roles & Responsibilities:
Create content strategies and communication campaign with the Senior Marketing and Outreach Specialist and GEO leadership;
Employ SEO strategies and target content to specific audiences;
Produce and edit highly engaging, lead-generating copy that conforms to GEO's and the University's guidelines and delivers a distinct and cohesive voice;
Conduct high-quality research and interviews;
Collaborate with study abroad participants and identify storytelling copy for a variety of digital and print media, including but not limited to website, social media posts, e-newsletters, blog posts.
Manage time effectively, adhere to deadlines, and maintain an editorial calendar.
Event Coordination Roles & Responsibilities:
Plan, schedule, and execute biannual study abroad fair;
Coordinate with academic units, faculty, to Plan, Schedule, execute informational events to promote study abroad;
Develop creative activities and events to promote international education;
Coordinate events and work with campus stakeholders; and
Collaborate with GEO team members on larger projects.
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
International study, intern and/or volunteer experience;
Ability to self-start, self-regulate and work independently;
Proficient writing, editing, and storytelling skills (sample required);
Strong interpersonal skills and facility in connecting with a variety of clients;
Capable of handling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment;
Excellent time-management and organizational skills; and
Functional knowledge of Skype, Microsoft Word/PowerPoint/Excel, and Google platforms.
Project Management experience;
Knowledge of TerraDotta; and
Marketing and design skills.
Salary: $47,476 annually
